Forest The Canoe Guided paddling trips, camping adventures, and nature experiences on Lake Superior. Based in Goulais River, just north of Sault Ste. Why Choose Forest The Canoe?

Marie, we help everyday explorers connect with the wild beauty of Northern Ontario. Forest The Canoe is your gateway to unforgettable outdoor experiences in the rugged beauty of Northern Ontario. Marie, we offer guided nature tours, backcountry camping trips, and seasonal adventures that make it easy for everyday outdoor enthusiasts to connect with the land, the water, and each other. We embrace a

ll the “True North” has to offer—windswept shorelines, towering pines, foggy mornings on the lake, and the joy of sitting around a campfire after a day well spent. At the heart of it all is our belief in creating meaningful connections between people, place, and the natural world through interpretation, education, and shared experience. Whether you're a curious first-timer or a seasoned camper looking to unplug and go deeper, we’ll meet you where you’re at—with approachable guides, thoughtfully designed trips, and a big welcome into our community. We’re not here to summit mountains or chase records (unless the record is who can pack the best camp snacks). We’re here to make the outdoors feel accessible, authentic, and deeply rewarding. Our trips are thoughtfully guided, our experiences are rooted in respect for the land and local history, and our vibe is always welcoming. We work closely with organizations like Algoma Highlands Conservancy, and Lake Superior Watershed Conservancy, and we’re proud to be part of a growing community of guides, educators, and nature lovers who care deeply about this place. Whether you're booking a half-day kayak tour on Lake Superior, joining a multi-day camping trip under the northern lights, or just looking for the best route to paddle with your dog, we’re here to help you feel at home outside.

Expectation: Gracefully gliding across the water like professional paddlers

Reality: unexpected swimming lesson.

Good news: the water is warm-ish.

Around here, we don't just teach paddling—we teach the important stuff too, like what to do when things don't go quite according to plan.

Whether it's your first time in a canoe or your hundredth, our guided tours and trips are all about building confidence, learning new skills, and having a few stories to laugh about afterward.

Because sometimes the best memories come from the moments that weren't part of the plan.

Mornings like this are why we love lake season. Calm water, warm sunshine, and a whole beautiful day ahead to paddle, float, and soak it all in.

Come rent a canoe, kayak, or SUP — the lake is looking way too good to stay inside.

Forest The Canoe will be closed from May 23 – June 1

We’re taking a short pause to recharge, prep for summer, and wait for the lake water to warm up a little bit because right now… OOOOOO she’s chilly.

During this time, responses to emails and messages may be delayed, but we’ll be back June 2 and ready for another season of paddling, camping, campfires, and getting people outside.

See you on the water ✌️

Victoria Day weekend: complete
Lake Superior water temperature: emotionally unavailable

We had guests at Basecamp all long weekend, but today’s dreary weather has us dreaming about sunny paddles like this one.

Summer’s coming… eventually
