RFESS x DB lunge stabs

This is a great complex to support the strength behind being stable when arriving to the ball at velocity

Building single leg strength and partnering it with some reflexive eccentrics to add the braking element

“Armor Sessions”

Early off season we focus on these sessions more regularly than in season

Focus is loading basic motor patterns for general strength and robustness while regaining range of motion and building strength at length

The body takes a beating all season so it is important to have regenerative qualities in the early off season to build a foundation to make progress later into the off season

Pre court session before a solo

Some days, due to time constraints and other issues we have to deal with, we have to spread our session across the day

Above is some local/global tissue prep to get the body going without causing any fatigue or sending it before the day has got started

Understanding when to do what is important with training so you’re getting the most out of it as much as possible!

If you can not break it’s a problem

Above is a series of braking drills used as potentiation before going into a session based on getting on to ball early and arriving with balance and stability to ensure good position on the ball with options!

Squash Specific is something that a lot of people say to me

I think it’s a bit of a buzz word and a good selling point

Personally I don’t think there is such a thing but we can train qualities that directly transfer to do the tasks required on court

A lot of the things required to make people better movers tend to be driven towards just being a better athlete in general

However you can make exercises a bit more specific to what is happening on court, in the video above is working on his first step to front of court and he is turning his head relative to if he was in a game and watching the ball so I guess this would make the exercise more squash specific

Squash specific or nonsense?!?!

Elasticity part 2

Building in some mechanics working on limb switching and general coordination being reactive and aggressive off of the ground

These drills are common practice in my programs and a lot of players struggle with these in respect to the coordination required to carry them out well

Majority of top athletes are very well coordinated and have control over there COM as well as their limbs

These drills will help with movement efficiency as well as coordination and control of the limbs

Elasticity session Part 1

Main focus here is interaction with the ground building efficient and smooth ground contacts

Focusing on the foot/ankle first building capacity at a low level and improving contacts under/inside/outside hips

Slowly integrating the knees and hips at a shallow range of motion to re enforce the elastic type movement we are looking for!

Once we move out of a position hitting the ball the main focus is to be efficient with movement

Sessions like this improve efficient of general movement that can later transfer on to the court

Training the foot/ankle inside & outside the hip is crucial for squash players

These positions are continuously happening on court

Get used to interacting with the ground in different ways to become more elastic & efficient round the court
