The club was established in 2002 by founding club president Zaid Omar and is based at Hartleyvale Stadium in Observatory. The clubs mission is to use high performance football as vehicle for positive change in society. Club culture and a disciplined wholistic development approach are keys components of the club's ethos. FC Kapstadt is a registered NPO with emphasis on grassroots football and youth
development. Our youth development program has become one of the most successful in the country over the past decade. FC Kapstadt raked in over 50 youth league and cup titles over the past 10 years. But at FC Kapstadt, success is more than just trophies or titles. Like Asavela Mbekile (Mamelodi Sundowns FC, Orlando Pirates FC & Bafana Bafana), numerous players rose through the ranks to professional football around the world and in the NFD or Premier Soccer League. All aspiring players / members undergo an assessment or a trial period before membership is offered. Discipline is our top priority, thus all members will undergo character assessments during the trial period to understand everyone. FC Kapstadt played in the SAFA 2nd Division, then know as the Vodacom 2nd Division from 2002 -2010 and also held equity in a National First Division status before selling it. FC Kapstadt is a registered NPC and are involved in several social justice projects. FC Kapstadt is the proud host of the Mother City's Premier Grassroots Football Festival - the Kapstadt CUP, now known as the LUCKY STAR CUP. The tournament sponsored by Lucky Star PTY Ltd is currently the only international grassroots football festival in South Africa.
