Yoga is generally safe. But “safe” doesn’t mean “risk-free”
One of the biggest misconceptions about yoga is that pain, discomfort or pushing deeper automatically means you’re progressing
👉 It doesn’t
Most yoga-related injuries are minor strains and sprains, but injuries can still happen, especially when we:
→ force a pose beyond our current mobility
→ practice advanced poses before we’re ready
→ ignore pain or warning signs
→ practice without proper guidance
→ repeat movements that aren’t appropriate for our body
And some people may need extra modifications, including older adults, pregnant women, and people with existing injuries or certain health conditions
💁♀️ So what does a safer yoga practice look like?
✨ Progress gradually
✨ Modify when your body needs it
✨ Don’t confuse intensity with effectiveness
✨ Learn proper alignment and technique
✨ And most importantly: listen to your body
Because yoga isn’t about making your body fit the pose.
👉 The practice should adapt to the body
This is the kind of yoga education we believe in at Soul Yoga, not just how to do a pose, but why we practice it, how the body moves, and when we should modify it
