Wow, Triple Jack has made a 3 page splash in September's Yachting World magazine!
'Most extraordinary boat of the month'.
Journalist Ali Wood interviewed us during the BVI Spring Regatta in March and then wrote the article.
She says there's enough material for a book and she only knows half the story. Jeff Wood (no relation), who helped his dad Frank build TJ wants to do a Netflix type docu-movie.

Hey ho, we had to retire from the Round Tortola race as we rounded Beef Island and aimed at Scrub.
We saw way too much port fwd beam flex going on, but not from our recent repair.
The movement was from the underside of the beam this time.
What a shame…the conditions were perfect. It’s time to turn our attention to getting the front beam bullet proof, like the rest of the boat.
The regatta proper starts today with perfect conditions again, the BVI delivers!

Well then, here comes the 2026 BVI Spring Regatta!
Tomorrow features the ‘Round Tortola Race’ and there are 15 multihulls on the start line. I’m not sure where on earth you would see a more mixed bag of entrants.
3x Diam 24’s up against Gunboats and foilers. Triple Jack is the oldest multihull in the fleet but the forecast is light to moderate so we have a chance.
For the regatta proper we split into 2 fleets, sports multis and performance multis.

Well, that’s a wrap for the 2026 Caribbean Multihull Challenge.
After an uneventful but long trip dead upwind to St Martin we just made the early Simpson Bay bridge into the lagoon and tied up at the comfortable Port de Plaissance Marina.
We spent a few hours getting TJ into race shape with all the surplus gear off the boat.
Thursday dawned with light SE winds forecasted, both CSA1 and CSA2 multis were set to race the same course with our starts 5 mins apart. What followed over the next 4 hours turned out to be one of TJ’s finest moments. We knew we were doing well but were shocked to beat the entire fleet by a good margin on corrected time.
Day 2 sees us up to a full crew of 7 with Steve flying in.
He takes the helm for race 2. We are now lined up against our fellow CSA2 competitors being Rapido 40 ‘Spike’, Newick Native 38’Ninth Charm’ and Leopard 50 ‘La Novia’.
Steve continued the good work and we got another bullet in the increasing breeze.
Race 3 saw us pegged back to second as we watched ‘Spike’ find her stride and sail away from us.
Saturday promises fresh SE winds forecasted the ‘Round the Island’ race. We tuck a late reef in pre start because things were looking fruity.
With an anti clockwise circuit it was a beat all the way to Tintamerre. We got as far as Pelican Island, just around the corner from Philipsburg and noticed the leeward sponson’working’ more than usual.
Closer inspection revealed that the port fwd beam top skin, near the main hull was on the move. We called it a day. Now, 20 years ago, we would have been scrounging a stout piece of 1x6 to drill and lag bolt to the beam top across the weakness, on a bed of fast cure 50/200…to continue racing! Times have changed, we all had our phones out looking at Sunday’s weather window sail back to the BVI. Moderate and rare Southerly winds forecasted which means port tack all the way with the damaged port beam up in the air and unloaded.
That’s what we did. We made Road Town Ferry Dock in 11hrs and had a glorious sail home.
Despite this we still placed second in CSA2, thanks to the fast start.
All in all we had a great time and thoroughly recommend this regatta to all multihull folk, racers or cruisers!

We are finally underway!
Kudos to all departments of Nanny Cay for assisting us getting race ready. A haulout and dockage…the icing on the cake being 7 very loud and proud crew shirts.
We will do our best!

It's time to go racing.
We set off for St Martin next Tuesday afternoon to compete in the Caribbean Multihull Caribbean Multihull Challenge - St. Maarten.
The recent strong Tradewinds look set to subside, making the 90Nm upwind slog bearable.
We will miss not seeing 'Oceans Tribute' astern of us.
It was always a comfort to know they were there to pick up any deck cushions that got washed off.
We are seeing 11 multis in the CSA racing class with some formidable opponents. The diam 24 class adds to the excitement and this year we even get to meet up with the cruisers halfway thro in Phillipsburg.

What a fun day!
The 2025 ‘W***y T Virgins Cup’ was excellent.
Let’s just start off by ignoring the fact that Triple Jack ridiculously owes the faster C31’s 10mins per hour.
We raced jib and main because there was only a short spinnaker run…even with that rating, we still owed them time!
Hey ho, cobwebs were blown away on a picture perfect Tradewinds day.
Our largely girl crew did really well with Captain Claudia, a TJ regular, at the helm.
Rosie and Piper managed to set a new W***y T record for consecutive jumps off the upper deck. It was 132, now it is 140.
We did place on the podium with a corrected 3rd place, the Jerk Porkers were late for the start and never caught up.
