HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE: As you probably know, Hurricane Irma devastated our sister islands St. Thomas and St. John, as well as the British Virgin Islands and others. Here on St. Croix, the impact was minimal in most places, and our island has turned its eyes toward helping out those in need. Right now communication to and from St. Thomas and St. John is almost nonexistent, and the ports are closed. But some fellow mariners have managed to get limited port landing permits and have set up a "Crucian navy" - a way for volunteers to load up boats with supplies and disaster relief personnel and take them over. They've set up a GoFundMe site to purchase supplies, and if you wish, you can donate here: https://www.gofundme.com/irma-relief-for-our-sister-islands
Also, Tim Duncan (retired San Antonio Spurs star) is a St. Croix native, and he has set up a charity too, with matching donations. He'll be sending over charter planes from San Antonio loaded with supplies. You can read his touching story here as well as donate.https://www.theplayerstribune.com/tim-duncan-hurricane-irma-us-virgin-islands/
If you are not moved to donate, that's fine, but please send your compassionate best wishes to all islanders who have been affected by this phenomenal storm. The recovery of the islands will be a long time coming, and all the love you can give will be a big part of the healing process.
Thank you.
Humanity unite to help our sister Islands of St.Thomas and St.John after the devastation created by Hurricane Irma. We have established a transportation chain to get supplies to St.Thomas and St.John from St.Croix. Caribbean Sea Adventures will be running trips back and forth to provide supplies....
