If you are a diver with diabetes, what do you take aboard in case of a low sugar event? Does the dive boat standard, oranges, work?

DAN’s latest guidance makes one thing clear: diabetes isn’t an automatic stop sign for diving, but it does demand honest conversations and thoughtful prep. Hypoglycemia risks, hydration concerns, medication timelines, depth limits, the whole picture matters.

Whelk season regulations!

Just as a reminder to the public!
The open season for whelk is from October 1st to March 31st. It is permitted to harvest whelk in territorial waters (from the shoreline extending to 3 nautical miles offshore). Harvested whelks must have a shell greater than 2 7/16” in diameter across the widest part of its shell and must be landed whole. 
For recreational fishers, there is a bag limit of no more than 24 whelk per person, per day. 
Please note that it is prohibited to harvest whelk in the St. Thomas East End Reserve (STEER) and St. Croix East End Marine Park (STX EEMP) outside of the recreational zones. Please stay informed and be aware of areas where fishing and other recreational activities are prohibited.
