I started Sunday at 144 lbs and by Friday I was 149.

This is exactly why so many women get scared of the scale when they start lifting weights.

You are not gaining 5 pounds of fat in one week.

When you train harder, your muscles go through stress, repair, and recovery. That process can cause inflammation and water retention. If you’re also taking creatine, your muscles hold even more water to support recovery.

So yes, the scale can go up.

But that doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong.
Your body is simply responding to training.

I wanted to share this because this happens to many women, and understanding the process gives us power. The more we learn about our bodies, the better we can trust the journey.

Remember, this is not only a physical process, it’s also a mental one.
And learning how to understand the scale is part of winning that mental game. 💪🏼

For years I trained fasted and it worked great for me…

But recently my body started telling me something different. I was feeling dizzy during workouts and performance was definitely not good at all..

So instead of forcing it, I decided to listen to my body.

Now I eat before training (because I’m hungry 🤭) so I keep a shorter fasting window, and honestly… my workouts feel much better.

This reminded me of something important:

Our bodies are always changing.

What worked at one stage of your life may not work the same years later. Your stress levels, your sleep, your hormones, your lifestyle, everything influences how your body responds..

Sometimes we get stuck trying to force the same strategy that once worked, even when our body is clearly asking for something different.

Fitness isn’t about rigid rules.
It’s about learning what works for you and adjusting as your body changes.

You can change your meal timing, your macros, your foods, or your training, and still stay consistent with good nutrition and movement without sacrificing your mental health.

Sometimes progress comes from working with your body instead of against it.

Have you ever felt like the things that used to work for your body suddenly stopped working? 😯

Or like you’re pushing harder but not progressing?🥺

Maybe your body isn’t failing you.
Maybe it’s just asking you to listen.

Save this post if this resonated with you, and share it with someone who might be feeling stuck in their fitness journey right now. 💛

1. “You need to stay in a calorie deficit all the time to have abs.”

Yes, being in a calorie deficit helps reveal abs.
But muscles are built when you train properly and fuel your body well.

You don’t need to live on a constant diet to have abs.

If you don’t train hard enough and you don’t eat the right amount of macronutrients for your body, you won’t build the muscle that actually shapes them.

Abs come from training, nutrition and balance, not from living on restriction forever.

2. “The more calories I burn with HIIT, the better my abs will look.”

Not necessarily.

Many people think the more HIIT they do, the faster they will lose fat.

But when you abuse intense training every day, your body can become stressed. Cortisol goes up and recovery goes down.

A stressed body often holds inflammation instead of revealing definition.

3. “It’s normal to always have a bloated stomach.”

No. Constant bloating is not normal and you don’t have to accept it.

Most of the time it comes from inflammation, stress, digestion issues or foods that simply don’t work well for your body.

When you learn how to take care of your body properly, bloating is something you can improve.

4. “You can’t have abs and live a normal life.”

You can.

You can train hard, enjoy food, go out, travel and still take care of your body.

What is not sustainable is punishing yourself every day trying to look perfect.

Strong, balanced and consistent.
That’s the FITMAMI way. 💪🏼

Location: Playa Guacuco, Margarita 🌴

And remember… sometimes it’s not just about the place, but the people you’re with 🫶
And when you have both… it feels like magic ✨
