Elite Prospect Profile: Branford Dominguez
At just 15 years old, Branford Dominguez is already establishing himself as one of the most promising young talents in our Elite Prospect Program. Standing at 6’0”, Dominguez brings a versatile skill set as both a catcher and shortstop, excelling behind the plate and in the infield with advanced defensive instincts for his age.
He began his journey in our Developmental Academy in Venezuela, where his talent, work ethic, and natural leadership quickly stood out. Since then, he has continued to refine his game through high-performance training and competition, making impressive strides in his development.
As a catcher, his pop times to second base consistently range between 1.84–1.92 seconds, with a personal best of 1.81, showcasing elite quickness and precision. From behind the plate and at shortstop, his arm strength has already been clocked at 89 mph, an impressive mark for his young age that demonstrates his natural power and projection. Adding to his profile, Dominguez is also a 6.6–6.7 runner, rare athleticism for a catcher that enhances his overall value and versatility.
Dominguez combines physical tools with a strong work ethic and maturity beyond his years. While he isn’t eligible to sign until 2027, he is rapidly establishing himself as one of the top catching prospects throughout Latin America for the 2027 class, positioning himself as a standout player to follow closely in the coming years.
