🇯🇵 Honoring the Founder of Shinshukan

Every great tradition begins with a visionary.

Today, International Okinawa Kobudo Shinshukan – Asia Hombu proudly pays tribute to Grand Master Yoshihide Shinzato (1927–2001), the visionary founder of Shinshukan, whose dedication, courage, and lifelong commitment laid the foundation for one of the world's most respected Okinawan martial arts organizations.

Born in Okinawa, Japan, Grand Master Yoshihide Shinzato trained under the legendary Grand Master Choshin Chibana, founder of Shorin-Ryu. In 1954, he brought the spirit of Okinawan martial arts to Brazil, where he devoted his life to preserving the authentic traditions of Karate-Do and Kobu-Do.

On June 3, 1962, he established what would become Shinshukan—a name that continues to represent discipline, respect, humility, and technical excellence across generations.

Today, his vision lives on through every dojo, every instructor, and every student who proudly carries the Shinshukan name. His legacy continues under the leadership of Soke Mitsuhide Shinzato, inspiring martial artists around the world to preserve the true spirit of Okinawan Budo.
