International Okinawa Kobudo Shinshukan – Asia Hombu proudly recognizes Soke Mitsuhide Shinzato, President of International Okinawa Kobudo Shinshukan and 8th Dan – Japan, for his unwavering dedication to preserving and advancing the authentic traditions of Okinawan Kobudo and Karate-Do.

As the son of the founder, Grand Master Yoshihide Shinzato, Soke Mitsuhide Shinzato continues the vision established by his father with integrity, humility, and excellence. Under his leadership, Shinshukan remains committed to promoting traditional martial arts through international seminars, technical development, instructor education, and cultural exchange.

Today, the Shinshukan family continues to grow across the world, united by a shared commitment to preserving Okinawan heritage while inspiring future generations of martial artists.

🇯🇵 Honoring the Founder of Shinshukan

Every great tradition begins with a visionary.

Today, International Okinawa Kobudo Shinshukan – Asia Hombu proudly pays tribute to Grand Master Yoshihide Shinzato (1927–2001), the visionary founder of Shinshukan, whose dedication, courage, and lifelong commitment laid the foundation for one of the world's most respected Okinawan martial arts organizations.

Born in Okinawa, Japan, Grand Master Yoshihide Shinzato trained under the legendary Grand Master Choshin Chibana, founder of Shorin-Ryu. In 1954, he brought the spirit of Okinawan martial arts to Brazil, where he devoted his life to preserving the authentic traditions of Karate-Do and Kobu-Do.

On June 3, 1962, he established what would become Shinshukan—a name that continues to represent discipline, respect, humility, and technical excellence across generations.

Today, his vision lives on through every dojo, every instructor, and every student who proudly carries the Shinshukan name. His legacy continues under the leadership of Soke Mitsuhide Shinzato, inspiring martial artists around the world to preserve the true spirit of Okinawan Budo.

With profound respect, International Okinawa Kobudo Shinshukan – Asia Hombu pays tribute to Master Masahiro Shinzato, 9th Dan – Japan, whose dedication ensured that the vision of Shinshukan continued to flourish for generations.

Born in Okinawa, Japan, on August 3, 1950, Master Masahiro Shinzato began his martial arts journey under the guidance of his father, Grand Master Yoshihide Shinzato. Through decades of unwavering commitment, he preserved the authentic traditions of Okinawan Karate-Do and Kobu-Do while strengthening the Shinshukan organization both nationally and internationally.

As President of Shinshukan and a respected leader in the martial arts community, his contributions to technical excellence, instructor development, and the promotion of traditional values left an enduring mark on countless students and instructors around the world.

Although Master Masahiro Shinzato passed away on April 11, 2024, his teachings, leadership, and spirit continue to inspire the global Shinshukan family.

His legacy lives on through every dojo, every instructor, and every student who carries forward the values of discipline, respect, humility, and excellence.
