Hello everyone... It has been too long since my last post.. House selling, surgery and life. Well, I'm baaaaack!
Hooked up here Detroit Lakes Minnesota and probably had the most fun on the water yesterday. Caught some bass, crappie and a big ol'e Sun fish. But it wasn't about what was caught, more about what was lost.
Let me say, I was not prepared for the fish of the north.. I lost 2 of my favorite lures as class tuition. Muskie and Pike.. They grow'em big up here and mean. It took all of about 10-5 seconds between hook up and a tail wave goodbye because I wasn't prepared. Braid and mono are like a line of floss. Since they were both top water baits, I had the pleasure of being able to see what hit'em. 3+ feet long each and those teeth made short work of the encounter.. Wire leaders are a must in these here waters.. Even if you aren't fishing directly for them.
There is your PSA for the day today.. I'm on the hunt for said leaders, as all stores locally? Yep, sold out.
