On May 3rd, we held our annual Michigan Family Takai. Thank you to all the Michigan kendo dojos for coming out to compete, shinpan, and volunteer! This year we introduced the East/West match where an 11 person team from dojos east of US23 competed against an 11 person team from dojos west of US-23. We loved seeing the dojos come together and cheer for one another! Congratulations to the West team for winning the inaugural match!

Thank you to everyone who came out to this year’s event. We are already looking for to next year!

We at Seishinkan Kendo Dojo would like to thank all of the Michigan dojos who came out to the revival of our Michigan Family Takai this past weekend. We are truly appreciative of this entire community and everyone who helped make it a success. We had 69 competiors across multiple divisions. Special thank you to our chief judge, kendo hanshi 8-Dan Yosh*teru Tagawa-sensei, our special guest & founder of the tournament Eric Abbey-sensei, and everyone who were shinpan and ran the courts. We are already looking forward to next year!
