And apparently, James Piot likes breaking his own. 🔥
On Thursday, August 13, James returned to Washtenaw Golf Club and fired an absolutely incredible 59, setting a NEW COURSE RECORD!
Yes… FIFTY-NINE. 🤯⛳️
After previously holding the modern course record with a 61, James decided two strokes needed to disappear from the scorecard.

What. A. Day.

Great golf. Great people. A little friendly competition. A LOT of laughs. And one very special reason for bringing everyone together. 💚💛

The 2026 Kendall Cup was everything we hoped it would be and more. From an incredible group of Golf Professionals and their Am partners, to our sponsors, volunteers, staff and everyone who came out to support the day, this one was pretty special.
And somewhere in the middle of all those birdies, big drives, Wowie Zowies and stories being told, you could feel Dave all over it.
This is what the Kendall Cup is about. Golf bringing people together, honoring a legacy and helping create opportunities for the next generation of PGA Professionals.

Dave would have loved this day.

⛳️ A 61 AT THE KENDALL CUP. 🔥

What a day of golf at Washtenaw Golf Club!
Golf Professional Grant Haefner put on an incredible display during the Kendall Cup, firing a 61 and tying James Piot for the lowest round at Washtenaw in modern times.
Now, we know there may be a little friendly debate about who holds the original course record… 😉 so we’ll just call this one the modern record and leave that conversation for the 19th hole. 😂

But today was about so much more than a number on a scorecard.
To have so many talented Golf Professionals and amateurs come together for the Kendall Cup, play some phenomenal golf, and support a purpose that meant so much to Dave Kendall made this a pretty special day.

Grant, 61 is something else. 👏🔥
We know Dave would have been incredibly proud watching it all unfold.

🏌️‍♂️ The Kendall Cup is officially underway! 🏌️‍♀️

The 1:00 PM sh***un has teed off, and the course is filled with some of the area’s finest Golf Professionals paired with their amateur partners, all competing for something much bigger than the scorecard.

Every drive, every putt, and every great shot today helps support scholarships for Ferris State University’s Professional Golf Management Program, honoring the legacy of David Powers Kendall and investing in the future of the game.

Good luck to all of our professionals and amateurs. Play well, have fun, and let’s make it a memorable day at Washtenaw Golf Club! ⛳💚
