Louisiana Tax-Free Weekend Starts TOMORROW

September 4th–6th is Louisiana’s Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday, which means qualifying fi****ms, ammunition, optics, accessories, and hunting supplies are exempt from state and local sales tax.

And the timing couldn’t be much better.

We’ve had some pretty impressive new arrivals this week, including a MasterPiece Arms DS9 LOC V2 and a SIG MPX in Coyote — just a couple of the things you’ll see around the store this weekend.

If you’ve been waiting on something specific or planning your next setup, this is one of the best weekends of the year to stop by and take a look around.

BIG SILENCER UPDATE — STARTING THIS FRIDAY

After reviewing the recent federal court ruling and the information now available to dealers, Sentry Defense will begin transferring qualifying SILENCERS directly on a Form 4473 starting Friday, September 4.

That means for qualifying transfers:

No Form 4
No waiting for Form 4 approval
Complete a 4473
Pass the required NICS background check
Take your silencer home

IMPORTANT — THIS APPLIES TO SILENCERS ONLY.

We are NOT doing this with SBRs or SBSs. Those will continue through the normal Form 4 process.

WHO QUALIFIES?

For silencers we transfer under this process, you must fall under one of the qualifying paths we are using:

1️⃣ You are an active Gun Owners of America (GOA) member
You must provide proof of an active GOA membership at the time of transfer.

OR

2️⃣ The silencer originated through Silencer Shop
This includes qualifying silencers purchased through Silencer Shop or through our Silencer Shop dealer account.

If you aren’t already a GOA member and want to use the GOA membership route, make sure your membership is active and you have proof before coming in.

Sentry Defense is now a Chalkless dealer.

If you’ve shot USPSA with us, there’s a good chance you’ve seen us using this stuff already.

Chalkless is a grip enhancer designed to remove the oils from your hands that cause your grip to become slippery. That can make a big difference during a Louisiana summer when heat, humidity, and sweaty hands start working against you.

For shooting, we use it all the time in USPSA. A more consistent grip means better control of the pistol, especially during longer stages when your hands start getting sweaty.

But it definitely isn’t just for shooting.

MAJOR SILENCER UPDATE

There has been a major development regarding suppressors and the National Fi****ms Act.

A federal court ruling has challenged the continued NFA registration and approval requirements for certain fi****ms after Congress reduced the federal transfer tax on suppressors and several other NFA items to $0.

Following that ruling and the expiration of the court’s temporary stay, suppressors have now been transferred without the traditional Form 4 approval process.

We want to be clear about where Sentry Defense stands:

We are 100% pro-Second Amendment, and we absolutely hope this ruling stands and ultimately results in suppressors being removed from the NFA registration process.

If suppressors can legally be transferred like a regular firearm on a 4473 background check, and take it home, we are all for it.

However, there is still an important issue that licensed dealers like us need clarification on.

Many of the suppressors currently in our inventory are already registered to Sentry Defense through the ATF’s NFA/eForms system. Before we simply begin transferring those suppressors directly to customers, we need clear guidance from ATF explaining how those existing registered suppressors are supposed to be removed from our NFA inventory and properly transferred out of our records.

That is the part we are currently waiting to get clarification on.

For now, we will continue processing suppressor transfers through the current Form 4 system until ATF provides guidance on how dealers should handle suppressors that are already registered in their NFA inventory and future inventory.

As soon as we have a clear procedure and a statement from the ATF, we will adjust our transfer process accordingly.

We are extremely encouraged by what is happening and hope this is the beginning of the end of federal suppressor registration.

Sentry Defense is PRO-2A. We support this ruling. We’re simply waiting for clarification on how licensed dealers are supposed to handle existing registered inventory before changing our transfer process.

We will keep everyone updated as we receive more information.

Heat, humidity, sweat, body oils, lint, and moisture can build up quickly and lead to rust, corrosion, or reliability issues. If your handgun has been to the beach, exposed to salt water, left in a hot vehicle, or simply hasn’t been inspected recently, now is a good time to have it looked over.
