🍂 Fall is a great time to check in on your trees and shrubs.

After a long North Carolina summer, watch for:
• Yellowing, bronzing, or thinning foliage
• Scale insects or spider mites
• Fall webworms and caterpillars
• Sticky honeydew or black sooty buildup
• Branch dieback or plants that never bounced back from summer stress

Not every symptom needs treatment. Sometimes the problem is insects. Sometimes it’s roots, soil, drought stress—or a combination.

That’s where Plant Health Care comes in. We help identify what’s actually happening and recommend treatment only when it makes sense.

🌳 A struggling tree may be telling you more than you think.

When an ornamental tree or shrub starts declining, the visible leaves are only part of the story.

A Certified Arborist may also look at:

✔ Root flare and planting depth
✔ Soil conditions and compaction
✔ Drainage and watering patterns
✔ Insect and disease activity
✔ Sun and heat exposure
✔ Trunk and branch condition
✔ Recent construction or landscape changes

For homeowners with mature trees, specimen ornamentals, established privacy screens, and professionally designed landscapes, understanding the cause of decline can help protect a significant investment.

Our Summer Heat blog explains why professional plant health care goes beyond simply treating symptoms.

☀️ Is summer heat really what’s hurting your trees and shrubs?

By August, many Raleigh-area landscapes are showing signs of stress—brown leaf edges, wilting, thinning foliage, early leaf drop, or shrubs that just don’t look as healthy as they did in spring.

But heat isn’t always the only problem.

Insects, root stress, compacted soil, drainage issues, and disease can create very similar symptoms. That’s why adding more water or fertilizer without knowing the cause may not solve the problem.

Our latest blog explains what summer stress looks like in ornamental trees and shrubs, what Triangle homeowners should watch for, and why proper diagnosis matters.

Late summer is a good time to look at how your trees and shrubs have handled the season so far. Some plants will need continued monitoring, some may benefit from treatment, and some may simply need better care practices going forward. A professional plant health review can help homeowners in the Raleigh area make smart decisions before fall arrives.

Humidity, heavy rain, and poor airflow can encourage fungal issues on trees and shrubs. Leaf spots, powdery mildew, canker symptoms, and dieback should not be ignored.

We offer disease monitoring and treatment recommendations for ornamental trees and shrubs. If your plants are showing spots, mildew, or sudden decline, schedule a free inspection before it's too late.
