I started training in Martial Arts with my friend Jerry and Rob in 1970, I was 11 years old. I met my Isshinryu instructor Ed McGrath and Louis Luceri at the Lindenhurst youth center and the rest is history. I found out later on in years that Ed McGrath was one of Don Nagle's School of Isshinryu students. He went on to become a tenth dan inheritor. Don Nagle promoted Ed and left us with a lifelong body of work. When Sensei passed away he left us with his passion for Isshinryu to be continued in the highest esteem. We work everyday to change peoples lives as Sensei did while he was here. As a student I have learned that the people you help along the way will stay and some will leave. However, my time with them has produced the best results. I am happy that I was able to help in what ever way I could.

Roger Maris homered in his first World Series at bat 1960, as the Yankees lost to the Pirates, 6-4, in Game One played at Yankee Stadium. Few numbers in baseball history are as immortal as 61 – the number of home runs Maris hit in 1961 to break Babe Ruth mark from 1927. Maris, however, was more than a one-year wonder. In 1960, his first year with the Yankees after his acquisition from the Kansas City Athletics, Maris hit 39 home runs to finish as the AL runner-up to teammate Mickey Mantle; he led the AL with 112 RBIs and with a .581 slugging percentage, and was named AL MVP. After helping the Yankees to five straight pennants (1960-1964), Maris was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in December 1966, helping them to NL pennants in 1967 and 1968. More than anything, Maris was a winner and a team-first player. After 12 big-league seasons, Maris retired after the 1968 season with 275 home runs and a 127 OPS+.
