NEOC is known for its selection and abundance of cookies, so please help out in this regard.



You can bring the cookies to the event that morning, or bring them to the September meeting on the 16th, which as a reminder, is in the Chester Long Pavilion in Boardman Park, or to my house.

BOARDMAN, OH —Local cyclist Carl Foote is turning miles into memories and milestones. Starting Wednesday, September 9, 2026, he embarked on the Magical Memory Tour (MMT 2026), a 700-mile, two-week bicycle journey around the entire perimeter of Lake Erie. The mission: to raise critical funds and awareness for the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. 100 percent of those donations go toward research.



Foote will launch from Ashtabula, Ohio, pushing west through Cleveland and Toledo before heading north into Monroe and Detroit, Michigan. From there, the international journey crosses into Windsor, Ontario, tracing the Canadian coastline down to Buffalo, New York, before looping back to the starting point in Ohio.



"Every mile of this ride represents a step forward in the fight against a disease that affects millions of families," says Foote. "The Magical Memory Tour is about keeping those memories alive and supporting the scientists working tirelessly to find a cure."



This Lake Erie tour aims to bring local communities together across three states and two countries to back Alzheimer's research. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised through the tour's GoFundMe campaign will go directly to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, a non-profit organization where every single dollar donated is funneled straight into breakthrough scientific research.

Section of MetroParks Bikeway to Close for Improvements and Resurfacing


Mill Creek MetroParks will temporarily close a section of the MetroParks Bikeway beginning Monday, September 14, 2026, to allow for improvements and resurfacing.

The MetroParks Bikeway will be closed from Silica Road to County Line Road as well as access to the Bikeway at Ohltown Road and Webb Road for the duration of the project.

The improvement project will help maintain and enhance the trail for future use and will include milling of the existing asphalt surface, installation of a new asphalt overlay, placement of topsoil along the shoulders, and installation of compacted aggregate along the shoulders.

Work is anticipated to be completed within one week, weather and site conditions permitting. Inclement weather or unforeseen conditions may delay the anticipated project schedule.
