This Memorial Day weekend, hundreds of thousands of people around the world will take on The Murph Challenge.

Not just to complete a workout.
But to honor the life, service, and sacrifice of Lt. Michael P. Murphy.

The Murph Challenge is the official annual fundraiser for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation, helping carry forward Michael’s legacy through education and scholarship support.

Since 2014, more than $2.25 million has been raised through participation in The Murph Challenge.

That impact only happens because people continue to show up.

In CrossFit affiliates.
In garages.
In parks.
On military bases.
In driveways and communities everywhere.

Every run.
Every pull-up.
Every push-up.
Every squat.

Done with purpose.

For some, this will be their first Murph.
For others, it’s a tradition they return to every Memorial Day.

Either way, you are part of something much bigger than a finish time.

If you’re taking on Murph this weekend:
Scale if needed.
Partition early.
Stay steady on the first run.
Lean on the people around you.

So proud of our girl, Morgan, as she heads off to Basic Training. She is well prepared physically, mentally and emotionally! Morgan started out in our CrossFit Kids program and earned herself a spot in our adults program quickly by showing integrity and maturity. She came in strong and there is no doubt that her training with us has made her stronger in every aspect. We know she’s going to do great! We can’t wait to have her back home in November! Good luck, Morgan!

Every Memorial Day, something unique happens inside CrossFit affiliates around the world.

People gather with a mission.
Tape their hands.
Lace up their shoes.
Write names on whiteboards.

And together, they take on Murph.

For some, it’s their first time.
For others, it’s a tradition years in the making.
But every rep carries the same purpose:
to honor the life and sacrifice of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael Murphy.

Murphy was killed in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005, during Operation Red Wings. He was later awarded the Medal of Honor for his courage and selflessness in combat.

The workout Murph was one of his favorites.

Originally called Body Armor, it became a CrossFit Hero workout in 2005 and has since become one of the most meaningful traditions in the CrossFit community.

1-mile run
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 air squats
1-mile run

Done together.
Done with purpose.
Done in remembrance.

But Murph was never meant to be about finishing first or doing it unbroken.

It’s about showing up.

For your community.
For the person next to you.
For something bigger than yourself.

Every year, affiliates around the world take on Murph side by side — first-timers alongside Games athletes, scaled athletes alongside Rx’d competitors, entire communities moving together with shared purpose.

That’s what makes Murph different.

It’s not just a workout in CrossFit.

It represents what CrossFit is capable of becoming when challenge, sacrifice, and community come together.
