Challenge League

For the past 13 years, Challenge League has been hosted on Wednesdays by Yorktown JAA at the Yorktown Sports Park. This season, our traditional Wednesday evening field time was no longer available. Thankfully, Coach Pena and Ball State Softball stepped forward.

We are incredibly grateful to Ball State Softball for opening the gates to their beautiful stadium and welcoming our league for the 2026 season. Thanks to their generosity, our players will continue enjoying Wednesday evening baseball—now taking the field at the Ball State Softball Stadium each Wednesday at 5:45 p.m.

Ball State Softball & Baseball have supported this league for many years, with coaches and student-athletes volunteering their time and creating unforgettable memories for our players. Their willingness to provide a home for the league this season is another example of the outstanding character and community spirit of BSU Athletics.

We can't wait to see our athletes experience the excitement of playing on a collegiate field. Thank you, Ball State Softball, for helping us continue a tradition that has brought so much joy to our kids and families.

Dates: Sept 9, 16, 23, 30
Time: 5:45 p.m. - games generally last about an hour
Location: Ball State Softball Stadium, 2800 W. Bethel Ave., Muncie, IN 47304
Ages: 4-18, up to 22 if still in school
Cost: $30 - scholarships are available to all athletes who request one - please make a note in the comments
Equipment - bats and helmets are available to share, but please bring your own glove if desired (not required)

Due to the weather forecast, tomorrow's BSU Softball game has been moved to 11 a.m. Families should meet behind the press box at 10:30 am to join the team on the field for the singing of the national anthem.

We'll see you at the ball park tomorrow!

Challenge League Families - we have been invited by BSU Softball to join them this Saturday, April 4, on the field to help sing the national anthem prior to their game vs Ohio.

Families would need to arrive at the BSU Softball Complex by 12:30 p.m. Please respond in the comments if your family is able to attend.

Once again Lisa Kemp captured the spirit of Challenge League with her camera. Photos have been edited and are now available for purchase. As a reminder, Lisa donates all proceeds back to the league.

Kemp Photos specializes in pictures of sports (baseball, football, wrestling, swimming, and more) in the Yorktown, Muncie, and Central Indiana area.

What a great opening night for Challenge League!

We truly appreciate the tremendous support of the Yorktown community. Not only is the league fully funded but tonight included members of Yorktown Town Council and YHS Baseball and Softball teams as volunteers!

Appreciate Marta Guinn, Nancy Perry and Erin Hurley attending from Town Council and Coach Jeremy Penrod, Joe Butts, Amy Whitt, Kim Burkholder and Cameron Crumes for organizing the volunteers tonight!

Excited to see former Challenge League athlete Noah Lennon pick up two silver and teo gold medals!

Even though the Lennon’s now live in Texas, we appreciate their ongoing financial support of the league!

Athletes from across the region put on their swim caps to compete at the Special Olympics Texas swim meet on Saturday.
