General consensus amongst the members tonight was that deer numbers are down, summer drought made for a poor acorn crop pushing deer into thickets and backyards. Luckily some of our members were able to harvest a couple mature bucks. Anthony Diqunizio took 1st with a 130" Michael Coyne was 2nd with a 116" and 3rd was Jerry Sefa with a 110". Unfortunately member Andy Susa found his target buck dead just before the season opener as a result of being hit by a car. Big thanks to Steve and Anthony for sharing some of their shed hunting techniques hopefully their tricks will help fill the table at our spring meeting.

Hope everyone is staying healthy in this crazy time. In case your in need of some good news we would like to inform you that WCBA has taken over a small piece of property that's has been utilized as an archery range for several decades. We will be performing a clean up of the property next weekend and will hopefully begin allowing use of the range as early as July. Stay tuned for more info.

Congratulations to all the hunters who had a successful season this year. Table had a couple quality bucks on it as many of our members are seeing the benefits of passing on immature bucks and allowing them to teach their full maturity before being taken.

Some people just have a way with words. We happen to like these.

"Bowhunter" synonym for jerk! Three months a year you deal with tick bites that put you at risk of diseases that may disable or even kill you. You walk around in the dark searching for that tree that doesn’t exist. The one that is down wind of the deer run with a clear shot, that allows you to get your tree stand on it and doesn’t have a big branch growing ten feet up. But you make due at the cost of your comfort. Sweat dripping off your face and each of the four layers you’re waring saturated with perspiration that turns into a chilly lining that gets colder with every breeze that swirls your scent in directions you expect most likely to be used by approaching deer. But as the tree sways and you hope you don’t have to shoot during a wind gust you think about all the other places you could have picked that probably have deer moving under them. You left a warm bed to get here to experience this feeling of defeat for just a chance that it could all come together. Hoping for a few seconds in which you’ll be able to perform well enough to take advantage of the elusive opportunity that presents it self once or twice a year, in a good year! This is enjoyment worth the effort you put forth for 92 days each year and dream about the other 273 days while you plan and await the magic “opening day”.
