Dear Interested Players,
For all those interested in getting a leg up on the competition next year, the Bronx Bombers are proud to offer our winter training program. The program, described below, is two 5-week intervals where players are allowed to set their own individual training schedule (3 days recommended). The first interval is designed to create a foundation for which the second interval builds upon. It is a progressive program in which each week is slightly more challenging than the previous. SPEED, AGILITY, and STRENGTH TRAINING
Our goal with training our athletes is to always be one step ahead of the competition. We focus on speed, agility, and strength training with all of our athletes. We strive to increase explosiveness, durability, and overall fitness with our program. Our program goals include:
· Improve lateral and linear movements
· Develop a quicker first step explosion for base stealing
· Increase core and lower half strength
HITTING
With our training program we emphasis allowing our hitters to have their own individual rhythm and style, yet we emphasize that they all incorporate the same fundamental mechanics. We stress proper contact point, efficient lower half mechanics which in turn promotes a balanced approach at the plate. Our program goals include:
· Increase bat speed
· Develop lower half mechanics for more power
· Improve swing path and bat plane for higher batting average
DEFENSE
Our training program highlights quick lateral movement, with an explosive first step, and fundamental and effective glove work including quick hands and transfers. Our program goals include:
· Position specific footwork and throwing drills
· Arm strengthening program
PITCHING
The training program that we use for developing pitchers is very effective for building arm strength, increasing movement, and perfecting mechanics. Our program goals include:
· Learn to keep your arm healthy
· Increase velocity and accuracy
· Perfect delivery mechanics and arm action
