The SOA of NY would like to congratulate our own Scott Di Domenico on recently notching his 3,000th training victory – the milestone was achieved on June 12th at Harrah’s Philadelphia with Calvin Hanover, who was driven that day by Jimmy Marohn, Jr. “Scotty D” has long been admired and respected by the entire Yonkers Raceway community, and serves as an SOA director (in the “driver/trainer” category). He’s only the 19th trainer to ever achieve this milestone, and is well on his way to his 16th consecutive 100 win season!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our fellow horsemen at Saratoga Harness who suffered a devastating barn fire early this morning. To the owners, trainers, and caretakers of the 17 magnificent horses that perished, we offer our heartfelt condolences, knowing the overwhelming grief that you are feeling. We’re grateful to track security, NYRA personnel, and the Saratoga Springs Fire Department for their efforts to contain the damage, save horses, and prevent injuries to the people on site.

Congratulations to the New York Knicks 🏀 on winning the NBA Championship last night, ending a 53 year drought! In case you’re looking for a harness racing/ Yonkers Raceway connection, note that MVP Jalen Brunson is wearing a Siegelman Stable hat on his way into the arena before last night’s game, and his sister is also sporting the same cap in the joyous family celebration after the victory! (A portion of all proceeds from the family owned brand goes to equine therapy programs)

The SOA of NY would like to congratulate our own Jimmy Marohn, Jr. and Peter Tritton on their victory with Mossdale Ben N in Saturdays night’s $250,000 Battle of Lake Erie at Northfield Park (in a sizzling 1:48.4 mile). For Tritton, it was his second victory in this prestigious race, having taken the 2018 edition with fellow MGM Borgata winner Bit Of A Legend N! Yonkers Raceway was certainly well represented – the 2nd place finisher Prince Hal Hanover was driven by Matt Kakaley, and third place finisher Huntinthelastdolar has done some of his best racing here at The Hilltop!

Our friends at New Yorkers for Harness Racing give some well deserved recognition to one of our most popular horsemen, Patrick Lachance (who just happened to deliver a pair of winners from the barn on Monday night, Verdun in the 7th race, followed up by Churchviewfrankl IR in the 8th)!

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Pat Lachance grew up in harness racing as the son of Hall of Fame driver Michael Lachance. Pat has over 1,500 training and 2,500 driving wins! He also cares for 25 horses of his own, giving him a unique perspective on the roles drivers, trainers and owners play in keeping horses healthy and happy. Along with the outstanding Finals (and Consolations) for the MGM Borgata Pacing Series and Ursula McIntyre FM Pacing Series (on May 8th), fans were also treated to the “Team Challenge”, fittingly won by Charles "Do Bronx" Oliveira himself, driving “Bronx Miracle”! Despite his enormous success and fame, the multiple UFC Champion never forgot his humble roots from the Favelas in Brazil, and in 2012 launched the “Instituto Charles Do Bronx” in his hometown, offering a variety of services and opportunities to underprivileged children.
