Yellow Springs Sea Dogs

Yellow Springs Sea Dogs We are the Yellow Springs Aquatic Club - the Sea Dogs. We are the summer youth recreational swim team for Yellow Springs Ohio and surrounding communities.

Registration for summer 2026 is now open at our website https://ysacseadogs.swimtopia.com. Join us! The Sea Dogs swim team has been the summer recreational swim program in Yellow Springs since 1991. Yellow Springs is one of six teams that currently make up the Miami Valley Swimming Association, https://mvsa.swimtopia.com/. The other teams are the Clinton County Barracudas (Wilmington), Forest Ridg

e Fighting Fish (Dayton), Greene Valley Gators (Beavercreek), Oakwood Dolphins, and Champaign Family YMCA Flying Fish (Urbana). The Sea Dogs swim in dual meets (against one other team at a time), at home and away, and in the league championships at the end of the season. Yellow Springs home meets are held at the Gaunt Park public swimming pool. Directions to away meets are available at the pool before the meets or on the MVSA website, www.mvsaohio.org, and car-pooling is encouraged. Dual meets are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from mid-June through late July and usually start at 6:00 p.m., although this can vary. The championship usually is held on the last Saturday in July at a local university, with events for swimmers 10 and under in the morning and for swimmers 11 and up in the afternoon. The team also hosts a pizza and swim party after one of the home meets, rides in the Yellow Springs 4th of July Independents Day parade through the village and holds a pot-luck awards night and swim party after the championships. Participants in the Sea Dogs pay a modest fee for the summer (with some scholarships available based on need). Participant fees cover supplies needed for practices and meets, the cost of membership in the league and stipends for the coaching staff. The team relies greatly on the volunteer work and dedication of parents and community members. Practice Schedule
Monday - Thursday (no practices on Fridays) Please arrive early enough to be ready at the practice time.

Things are looking tight for the Sea Dogs right now. We need about 30 more swimmers for a viable team. If you're thinking about swimming for us, we'd love to have you! This is a recreational team, so we emphasize building skill, making friends and having fun at the pool!

A big "Thank You!" to everyone who showed up today to move the shed. We were able to move it, w**d behind it ourselves and move it back all at once. We also left some room to get back there again as needed to keep up with the w**ds. We should not have to move the shed again. It was a wonderful team effort and we were finished in under 30 minutes. Hooray!

The Village needs to w**d behind our shed and has asked us to move it before the weekend of 23 & 24 May. If you can, please join us at the Gaunt Park Pool at 2:30 PM on Sunday 17 May. We need to empty the shed, move it several feet away, refill the shed and lock it. I estimate we'll need 6 able bodied people to move the shed, but children are welcome as many hands to move stuff out and back in will make short work of it. I am currently recovering from a hernia surgery and am not "able bodied". After the w**ding is done by a Village work crew, I'll worry about moving it back.

If you can help, please email me at [email protected]. Or you may text me at my number below. If we get enough people we'll move forward with the 2:30 PM plan for this coming Sunday. If we do not get enough people, we'll have to try another time. If you volunteer, I'll let you know either way.

I attach a photograph so you can see what they're talking about.

β„οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ Snow Way Sea Dogs! A Winter Weather Heads-Up! πŸŠβ€β™€οΈβ„οΈ

Brrrr! A snowy storm is on the way, and while we’re usually all about splashing, this week Mother Nature is practicing her cannonballs in the form of snowflakes! β˜ƒοΈπŸ’¦

Here are some SUPER IMPORTANT (and SUPER SILLY) winter safety tips from your favorite swim crew:

🧀 Wear mittens so your fingers don’t turn into fish sticks
🧣 Wrap up in scarves like a human burrito
🧦 Double socks = double warmth (that’s just science)
β˜• Drink something warm so your tummy feels like it’s at a poolside hot tub
β›„ Build a snowman and name it after your favorite stroke (Backstroke Bob, anyone?)

Stay warm, stay cozy, and remember β€” even penguins wear layers! πŸ§β„οΈ

See you when the snow melts and the pool vibes return! πŸ˜„πŸ–οΈ
