We waited all year for this day and it delivered like no other.

The all white kit started as a joke a few years ago thanks to Zwift. Fast forward to last winter, we called up and ordered a box full of white bibs, and waited to wear them. There aren't many great races left and Clamfest has always been iconic in New England. If you're going to show up big to make a statement, the Clammer is a great choice, and show up we did!

The racing was fast and the field was bigger than it has been in years. We covered everything dangerous for the first half of the race until we got two guys in a three man move. We shut everything down for 3.5 laps, but the field wasn't taking no for an answer. When the gap became closable, our newest guy, Mike Carilli, attacked his breakmates and went solo. The gap never got out of sight and we all knew it would be very close on the line. The final run in was chaotic, not too fast to catch Mike, but fast enough to be well positioned for a sprint. 🤷‍♂️ We didn't catch Mike, he buried himself all the way to the line and landed a HUGE win.

We made the joke earlier in the week, that if you show up with 8 guys, in white shorts, you pretty much have to win. We went first, third, fifth, sixth, and tenth... That'll do. Until next year Yarmouth

Cycling has seen many iconic team sponsors come and go through the years; USPS, T-Mobile, 7-11, Sky, Jumbo, Phonak (okay, maybe not them) and many others have left an indelible memory in the minds of cycling fans. On a much more local level, Velocio has been a mainstay within the New England scene for years. As time has passed, cycling has given way to kids, jobs, marriages, new homes, life in general. We still want to race and compete, but realize that our goals and Velocio's goals are different now. There are zero hard feelings, this isn't a break up, this is a bunch of 40 year old guys accepting their marketing "value", or lack there of. We've had some incredible moments and some unforgettable rides, too many to mention here.

The core of the current team was assembled by the ultimate cat herder, Ben Liang. He drove the culture within the team and while we are teammates, we're more importantly friends. We banter daily about whatever is happening, crack jokes, and support each other in non-cycling endeavors. Ben pulled this group together and took great care to make sure it all worked, he absolutely nailed it.

We lost Ben to a tragic accident two years ago today, we still talk about him all the time and think about him daily. So as we move into the next iteration of the team, we wanted to keep his influence within the team and not forget where we started. With that, we're excited to announce that from here on out we'll be using the name "New England Cycling Experts", a homage to one of the best satire accounts that ever existed. We'll have some new faces and some new kits, but we'll still be the same guys having fun, pedaling hard, and doing what Ben did as good as anyone else did, making New England Cycling more fun for everyone.

Summer is winding down and everyone's about to get busier with back to school, but we pulled a big one together this weekend.

Everything we could hope for on a team ride. Climbs were spicy, town lines were contested, country store baked goods were consumed. We even got a guest appearance from team OG .

We got rained on on the drive up and the drive home but the skies parted and we stayed dry for a banger two state tour. 10/10, already looking forward to the next one .

Saturday was the official kickoff to the 2023 road season. Four of us donned our fresh new Concept kit and toed the line at the Hatfield Road Race.

It wasn't the results we were hoping for but it was good to get out there and remember how to move around in a large field and hold wheels in a ripping tailwind.

Onward and upward from here. And btw, if you missed us in these kits, you won't miss our alternate kits. Can't wait!

We made the trip up to the ADK this weekend to ride every type of terrain we could find, test out some long sleeve kit, take in the views and catch up outside of our team Slack channels.

Cool temps and patches of foliage made for a fantastic fall ride. The only thing missing was a cider donut stop. We survived on just fine though.

These team weekends always feel perfect and these recap posts sentimental, but that's what happens when there's no events and you're friends first, teammates second.
