Check out the newly installed interpretive signs about the Wabanaki People at our Riverfront Woods Preserve. These signs were developed in partnership with the representatives of the Passamaquoddy tribe, the Yarmouth Indigenous Awareness Group and the Yarmouth Rotary. A dedication ceremony led by Dwayne Tomah, Director of the Sipayik Passamaquoddy Museum was held last Sunday with 65 people in attendance.

Bring the kids and see if they can find the animal cutouts hidden in the woods at six of the signs as part of our I Spy challenge. Follow the QR links to listen to Dwayne pronounce the Wabanaki words, hear the sign texts read, stories told and music played.

June 3-4 is Free Fishing Weekend! On these days, any person (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may cast a line without a license. All other laws and regulations apply.
Bring someone you know who hasn't made the time to pick up their fishing rod in a few years, or someone brand new to the sport... We can all benefit from more time spent fishing!
Wondering where to fish? Don't miss the June Fishing Report with tips and recommendations from your local fisheries biologists and the stocking report!
Please remember to always pick up after yourself, and dispose of unwanted fishing gear in the trash where it belongs.

Good day, Yarmouth! We are offering a quick one-time volunteer opportunity to plant trees in our public spaces. THIS Friday, 9am12noon or 1pm-4pm. Bring work/garden gloves and meet at Blake Skating Pond behind the Key Bank (198 Main Street). Please check out the link here to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/8050C49ACA62EA6FC1-tree or email Karyn with any questions [email protected]

The hole will be dug...we just need help putting the tree in, back filing, mulching, and watering. The goal is to get 5-6 trees planted in the three hour window. In total, we hope to plant 37 this month.

Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Enjoy the Frank Knight Forest? The Parks and Lands Committee (an advisory group of appointed volunteers) is seeking input and comments on the draft of the Management Plan for the Frank Knight Forest open space. The Yarmouth Community Services' website had other management plans as working documents to help the staff and volunteers manage the properties for the best outcomes for habitats, users, neighbors, etc. Check out the latest draft or join the public meeting in person at the Log Cabin on Wednesday, May 3rd at 6:30pm.

A subcommittee of the PLC worked for many months to gather information, host public meetings, and, with the help of NORTHSTAR Planning, completed the town's first Open Space Plan in 2019.

If you know anything about this senseless act of vandalism please let someone in the police department or Yarmouth Community Services know about it. The damage extends beyond the felled trees as other trees were damaged by the falling trees.

We're sharing this just released Maine Calling video that features our efforts to build accessible sections of the West Side Trail. We want to thank the countless volunteers and donors who are making this possible. BUT it is just the beginning! The Town is also building an accessible trail at the our recently acquired Riverfront Woods open space. The town is working hard to create outdoor recreational opportunities for people with disabilities and we are proud to have been featured in this video that MPBN has created.
