BANDED PULL APARTS -

One of our favorite exercises to help strengthen your upper back, train your rear shoulder muscles, and improve overall function!

We've included 3 different progressive variations for you to give a try!

1. The seated progression is the first level allowing the person to sit which stabilizes/helps neutralize the pelvis. It allows the person to solely focus on keeping the ribs down and retracting the shoulder blades

2. The standing progression starts to integrate stability through the pelvis, thorax, and shoulder blades while trying to perform all the same things as the seated progression (setting the shoulders and retracting)

3. Lastly, the single leg progression which requires even more of what's listed above, neutral pelvis, internal rotation through the hips, neutral spine AND proper shoulder retraction!

If you're looking for some additional upper back work, a great warm-up for upper body day, or an exercise to improve your posture, give this a go! You can do a couple of sets with 10-15 reps and slow the tempo as needed (especially if you want a really good burn!)

ATTENTION SHELBY TRAINED COMMUNITY!!

Due to the weather, Shelby Trained will be CLOSED Thursday 4/4 for ALL in-person sessions.

All zoom sessions will still take place at their normal times.

If you are looking to reschedule, please move yourself in Zen Planner to a session on Friday 4/5.

As long as the building still has power, the facility will still be open if you would like to go in and do your workout on your own (we will update if things change)

Our sugar swap of the day is…. Some fresh mango slices for a mid day snack! Fruit and veggies contain natural sugar so they are given the “ok” for this challenge! They can also be a great replacement if you have a sweet tooth but don’t want the extra sugar or calories!
