I’ve already made 3 saves this summer (4 total since last year). In most cases, floaties were part of the problem, NOT the solution.

They can give kids a false sense of security or actually stop them from being able to help themselves when it counts.

If you’re planning a pool party, please hire a lifeguard! If your child isn’t fully comfortable swimming on their own, start lessons!! It could be the difference between life and death.

Three people drowned in pools on Long Island over Thursday and overnight into Friday, including a seven-year-old boy, police said.

Ten people have drowned so far this year in Suffolk, five of them under the age of 25, according to Mike Martino, a spokesman for Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine. There were 15 cases in all of 2023, he said.

What an amazing day to celebrate a special 6th birthday! ☀️ This wonderful family decided to hire me after meeting me at their friend’s event I lifeguarded last week. I was thrilled to be part of their celebration, ensuring everyone had a safe and fun time.🎂🥳

We had an exciting day filled with games and laughter. There was a little scare when one of the kids, although a skilled swimmer had a moment of trouble. Thankfully, I was able to quickly pull him out of the pool. It was a reminder that accidents can happen to anyone no matter how experienced they are!

Feeling grateful to be part of these special moments and to help keep everyone safe. 🛟❤️

Hey friends! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, but life has been wonderfully busy. Between all of the parties and fun swim lessons, I’ve been making the most of this sunny season. 🥳

This is a great safety guide for children swimming in lakes and swimming pools. The color of the bathing suit can make it easier or more difficult to see children while they are swimming. This is a good reminder to always have adult supervision when children are swimming. (Thanks to Praire Lakes Healthcare System.)

Reflecting on yesterday's party fills me with gratitude for my job as a lifeguard. Witnessing the birthday girl's bold leap into the deep end, without floaties, highlights the importance of being proactive.
