We have waited years for this, the wind finally returns for the long shot on Friday!!! Prediction is S 15-25, perfect direction for a fast long shot. Race is about 20 miles round trip and with a beach start at 1 pm. We hope you can make it!

Good news! The Corp, has lowered the water level and the state has cleaned up and repaired the beach! We are meeting Saturday at 9am to move boats and boxes back to the beach. We plan to grill for lunch. If you cannot make it, please let us know what slip is yours and any thing distinguishing about your boat and box. We will gladly move it back for you.
Heads up, the state has temporarily closed the beaches to swimming on the lake due to increased bacterial levels due to the flood waters. Hope we see you Saturday.

Huge thank you to all everyone who helped move every single boat and sail box off the Beach today!!!

Due to high flows entering the system down stream from Gavin’s Point Dam, caused by catastrophic flooding NE of the lake in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Northeast Iowa. The Corp had decreased discharge flows to help out down stream, as a result the water quickly rose this weekend and higher than expected. This was due to a flood surge entering above the lake that arrived earlier than expected.
As the water quickly rose Sunday morning, it became clear we should remove all boats from the beach. No small task! The next challenge was finding and screwing in over 20 tie downs for all the boats.
For our friends that live across the country, an area NW of Lewis and Clark experienced massive record flooding, an area just south of Sioux Falls received 18” of rain in two days!! Rivers that might only be 50 yards wide or less are now 2 or 3 miles wide.
We are Thankfull that we only have to deal with our minor inconvenience of moving boats, we keep in mind that some of our sailing friends live in the hardest hit areas and have suffered damage to their homes.

Finally, see how the lawn area looks full of boats, we hope to fill with just as many boats with visiting sailors for OLD TIMERS REGATTA! Please register on regatta network and join us for our 40th year!
