It was a crazy whirlwind of a week! We shot well over 600 arrows each this week! 😱 I have a permanent callus dot on the tip of my nose now. 🤣
We arrived in Yankton on Monday and started getting some practice and sight marks for our bows! It was so exhilarating to be back in a competitive archery environment again! 🏹
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Jeremiah and I competed in the NFAA National Field shoot. Tuesday started out great but then turned into a rough day. I had some equipment issues pop up that I didn’t know how to fix. Luckily for me Jeremiah is an amazing bow tech and helped teach me how to tweak some things and try to fix issues if/when they happen again. After that I was too far behind to catch up but I always enjoy shooting field. The women are amazing and the challenges of that tournament are what I love so much!
Thursday after we finished the animal round, we got ready to start shooting Outdoor Nationals. Friday, we finished shooting that one. I shot ok, but not great. I was still trying to find my groove. My muscles were sore and the lack of practice really showed. 🎯
Saturday was the Dakota Classic. We all love that one and all three of us shot well. I qualified 9th and moved up to 5th when I won my first qualifying match. There is tough competition in these classes!!! David qualified 1st and took the silver in his match. 🏅
Sunday was our last day of competition and it was a new format for pros only. We shot a 300 5 spot round and then a 300 Vegas round. I shot the 5 spot well and the Vegas round about average for me.
Jeremiah shot amazing with 2 perfect rounds and went into the shoot offs! I’m so proud of him and David this week!
It already feels weird not being out shooting our bows today. We are missing our girls, ready to be home, and way more motivated to get back into a routine of practicing!
Thank you to everyone for the love, support, and help. We couldn’t do this without you! Special love and thanks to my parents, my best friend Heather, and Devin for taking care of the kids and animals while we were gone. We love you guys! 💜💚
And also to our amazing sponsors for the support and awesome equipment!
Mathews, Hamskea, Gold Tip, Bee Stinger 🐝, Stan, Axcel, Shrewd, and Jax Archery.
The NFAA staff did a fantastic job this week! I know they put in some incredibly long days and hard work. We are so grateful for all that you do.
