To develop efficient boxing patterns you have to practice where your body will be before you step to spar. However, in order to know if your positioning your body in the right places, you have to spar 🙃.

Get a coach that works on things personally so you don’t have to go through the “struggle”. It’s important to ask yourself if who you take advice from is actually being objective or just trying to accomplish an agenda.

_______________________________

Being objective from a young age I think I can share some relevant insight for the ring, or maybe I’m objective because I box?

Shout out to boxing for consistently sharing boxing knowledge with us. I was trying one of his moves out, can you tell what I was doing? Go to his page for more .
If it works in the ring, that’s the right move.

became a to try and build/see a community of people doing work in their favorite industry to better contribute and bring something to the table to those around them. By using the hashtag hopefully we’re able to connect with the services we need from those that are really “about it bout it”.

For me it’s been boxing because I’ve had the most skin in that game and the ability to share my knowledge with others. I got other tools in my toolkit that make me a great resource to use, but that’ll come with more results as time passes.

I’ve been quite a bit because I haven’t been able to provide a consistent environment for people to get the most benefit. Now with this partnership I could see some great things in the horizon for the community in this space. I’ve already had people ask me if “I’m that boxing coach from that one gym” and they don’t even have a membership there yet.

With that being said I’m confident in bringing back since the past few I’ve been more consistent and today was a day of setting up my work space for our Demo class.

Too many times we concern ourselves with actions that won’t lead to success in the ring. We know what actions we need to do.

I ride 1 deep with because it’s a methodology that insists upon functionality across the board. I’m far from being a truly functional human- it’s a process to replace the useless behaviors in my life.
Being mechanistic is not devoid of emotion - it’s about ridding oneself of the inefficiency that one has created to cope rather than deal with the environment we are in.
Thankful for critical thinking -for problem solving and fellow humans pushing a better way to live.

It’s important to have an organized plan. Without having “training camps” a fighter would be all over the place.

It’s not easy to do - to do the things you don’t want to or too lazy to do on certain days, but know have to get done.

During this time I was working my mental fortitude on doing things when I didn’t want. Looking for the best possible stimuli that I knew at the moment and training everyday at least for 1 hour. The time didn’t matter, just the focus of drills and the consistency.

I called it “stepping into the garage”. If I have to check myself and get my actions right I remind myself of that space.

Location: “The Garage”

A lil throwback from January 11, 2016.

Boxing has taught me a lot about myself. There’s a method to learning the root of your problems that I’m grateful for and we could talk about that on the daily.

But boxing was what got me interested in my body and how it could move more efficiently. What am I doing on the outside of the ring that is affecting my performance inside the ring? What training methods benefit or hurt me in the ring? How can I become more efficient at the end of the day.

You gotta tune into the boring and work on fundamentals. Over and over, especially on the days you don’t want to train. Those are the most fruitful ones. When you get done with hearing that “last bell” ring and you know you accomplished the training that you Weren’t stepping in the gym for originally.

Was talking with the homie yesterday . It’s all about the small victories and showing up, bring your best foot forward though. No half stepping.

Time to break em in. Actions speak louder than words.

This is a MAJOR appreciation post to my boxing coach Tricia and the that has been built in this space.

A lot of accountability and self awareness work has gone in and out these doors. I had the opportunity to be a boxing coach and learn the ropes of what goes on behind the scenes to be and build a successful and substantive space. I was lucky enough to experience it in a boxing gym, which for me boxing has been a “passion” since I could remember watching Tyson vs Lewis in my uncles living room (I remember it because we watched it on those big ass box big screen TVs that had the speaker built into the base of the screen). It got stronger when the homie came through with some 5 de Mayo gloves and had to get down in the back yards on a trampoline - I was probably like 10 or 12.

Back in the day I didn’t know or understand the sequencing and timing things needed to go through to make them come into fruition. However witnessing this space develop and taking the necessary steps to step inside the ring with progress always in mind taught me many lessons. You lose when you quit, not when you take hits. Boxing is about accepting that you’ll get hit, but can you commit to what you said you were going to do. Each day is an opportunity to get a bit closer to it.

Coach Tricia, I thank you very much for being a leader 🥊✊🏽. And to EVERYONE that punched me in the face, took one of my punches, or took on the experiments on tried with you - THANK YOU. And as you already know 🥊🥊🥊🥊
