Your pistol is just a mechanical tool. It can and will fail eventually if you use it enough.
Doesn’t matter if you run irons or a red dot.
Personally, I like having both. Red Dot primary and Irons as a backup.
There’s always this big debate online about whether iron sights are “more reliable” than red dots. I’ve seen both types mess up enough times to know it’s not worth picking a team and dying on that hill. Iron sights break off or shift (like this one). Red dot batteries die, emitters get blocked, screws walk loose, zero shifts… stuff happens.
That’s why I recommend checking carry gear regularly. Holster screws back out, springs wear, Kydex cracks, leather stretches and softens. You name it. If you carry every day, you should be inspecting your setup often. Ideally at the range…because you should also be there often.
Better to find a problem on the range than when it actually matters.
Now, feel free to blast each other in the comments about why irons are better than red dots or vice versa. OR… a more productive move would be to check your carry gear.😆
