Bryce Detwiler is one of those players where when you watched him, you just knew there was something special.
Bryce won Berks County Player of the Year not just once, but twice. He hit .531 in 2025 and broke the stolen base record at Mifflin. He was a captain on a state championship team and went on to play at UCONN this past year.
With all of those incredible accomplishments, it’s actually some little things that come to mind when I think of him.
He’s part of one of my all-time favorite baseball photos — ( the first photo I hope ) a moment after he hits a home run for his Diamond baseball team. In that photo, you can see the pure joy of youth sports from everyone involved. And for as long as I’ve known Bryce, he’s carried that same energy. He loves to compete, and he truly loves to play the game.
I remember the I’d get a text: “Can my dad and I come in and hit?” The answer was always YES. He loved just being part of the game, spending time around family and friends. That’s why sports can be amazing. That time.
As I put this together, I realized that so many of the photos of Bryce don’t just show him in action, they show him with his teammates and friends. And I think that says so so much about Bryce.
