A holster shouldn’t turn reholstering into a whole production and it shouldn't PANCAKE.
In this video, Grant demonstrates a major problem with soft nylon holsters that collapse or “pancake” when the fi***rm is drawn—including designs like the VNSH and many nylon belly band holsters.
When a holster loses its shape, getting the fi***rm safely back into the holster can become difficult. And adding a retention strap doesn’t automatically make a holster safer. It can introduce another step and another potential complication.
**A good holster should make safe, consistent reholstering practical—not turn it into a struggle.**
Your holster should:
• Maintain its shape when the fi***rm is drawn
• Protect the trigger guard from access
• Retain the fi***rm securely
• Allow safe, consistent holstering and unholstering
Comfort matters. Concealment matters. But neither should come at the expense of safety and performance.
