I dont know what was in the air today. Was it spring cleaning? We just opened on Tuesdays so we are open six days a week now. So many parents, divorcees, and older ladies came in with ye olde gunsmith specials. The rusty, tired, once affordable economy specials. People... hear me... dont procrastinate on getting rid of unwanted guns. If the gun doesnt serve some purpose, get it out like radioactive material. One old lady told us in the course of procrastinating her grandson found it and had an ND. Please! We are here for you! Most guns are worth something. Some are worth a lot. We are very transparent about pricing. We try to do the best we can. So please, if you or friends or family have unwanted guns, dont procrastinate get them to the store and help get them to their new forever home where they can be cared for and stored properly. With great freedom comes great responsibility.

Undergassed… or something else?

We ran into an interesting issue during a recent T&E. Rifle is a brand-new setup: complete Geissele upper on a complete Spikes lower. Using PMAG Gen 2 and Gen 3 mags.

Ammo: Hornady Frontier 5.56 55gr.

Issue: the rifle fires, extracts, and ejects just fine—but consistently fails to load the next round. This only happens with the Frontier ammo. Other 55gr ammo runs without any problems.

Possible causes we considered:

* Undergassed?
* Ammo sensitivity?
* Magazine-related?

This is the only rifle we’ve seen with this specific issue, and we run Frontier pretty regularly for bulk/plinking without problems—so it stood out.

A mutual customer let us take it out for testing, and we worked through the issue together. Whenever a customer has a negative experience (and is reasonable about it), we’re always happy to help troubleshoot—whether that means navigating customer support, looking at aftermarket options, or diagnosing the problem directly.

Geissele customer service (Tim) was excellent throughout. The upper is heading back to them now.
