As long as I’ve been working this race, I have always wanted to find a mission that I could promote and help support . Last year, my wife, Sarah, formed a non-profit organization and I’ve asked her to write something to share with y’all. - Michael

Hey Trail Friends!

Many of you know we adopted 4 children from the foster care system between the years of 2021-2024. In my years of working around the child welfare system in some capacity l noticed a gap in services. I saw various people supporting the child (and rightly so); among these were Attorneys, Special Advocates, Caseworkers, & Foster Parents. However, I never saw anyone specifically walking with the biological parent. Reunification is always the goal of foster care. It just doesn’t happen a lot.

“ Adoption is the only trauma a kid is supposed to be grateful for”. -Victor Marx

There will never be enough foster homes. I want to help eradicate the need for them. Obviously, there are reasons that reunification cannot always be an option, but I’m a firm believer that sometimes these parents just need someone to walk with them through “the mess”. So, in honor of our adopted children I formed The Reunification Project.

Our Mission: We serve and empower parents in the child welfare system through Christ-centered support, advocacy, and community, walking with them on the journey to reunification.

Our services are free of charge and for now we will only work locally.

Thank you!

Executive Director
