WHAT A WEEKEND! Finally, I've sent out most of the reports and money, and now it's time to share with everyone who wasn't at the 27th Annual Sky High Showdown what we experienced.
Before we even got started, we had a lightning strike that was 1/4 to 1/2 mile above the Lodge. Which means we had to wait 30 minutes before we could begin. When we tried to start, players at the top were yelling "FIRE" because a tree behind tee 22 was on fire at the top. Another delay occurred, so the firefighters could cut the tree down to put it out, as the fire was at the top. We finally began play of a 21-hole layout at 1:00 pm and finished the first round at 3:30-4:00 pm.
Sunday was much better; it had sunny skies in the morning and some clouds in the afternoon. We had 103 players, and the hot round of the weekend goes to John Ryan III with a -29, 991-rated round. Chris Brophy had the next hottest round at -26, 960 rating, and John Ryan, Jr had the next highest rated round of -24, 970 rating. We only had one Ace all weekend from Nik Syam on hole 2.
