Ten years in August!

WHAT’S YOUR “WHY”?

For the endorphins, to be fit and strong, to see my friends at CFW that feel like family, and because my parents died too young of preventable causes, and I now make health and wellness an absolute priority.

WHAT’S YOUR PROUDEST GYM ACHIEVEMENT?

Getting a box jump at my first CrossFit gym in 2012. I practiced at home by jumping over the end of an ironing board. I kept raising it! 😆 And, pulling a 2.4xbw
deadlift.

FAVORITE LIFT, AND WHY?

Strict pull-ups. I do them every day. I love adding weight to them. The ability to do twenty unbroken, at my age, is something I’ve worked hard to accomplish!

ADVICE FOR NEW MEMBERS?

Keep a training log. Whether online or in a notebook. There’s nothing more motivating than seeing weights go up, and wod times go down. Or being able to put RX next to a workout for the first time.

We’re hitting a partner WOD, cycling between shared sets of swings, calories, and toes to bar! Conditioning, power, and midline work all in one, and a partner to share the fun with! What more could you want?? Well, maybe you’d want some raw strength training in the form of deadlifts first, so we got you covered there, too. ;)

Come on in with your workout buddy and have as much fun as you’ve ever had while working this hard! The best workouts are shared with friends, so if you’ve got a pal that’s been on the fence, this would be a great one to bring with to. We’ll see you on the training floor!

Big birthday shoutout today to DJ, who ALWAYS brings the energy to each and every workout! He and his dad Doug are here consistently 3 days a week to put in the work together, and never fail to brighten the day of every coach and athlete in the class. DJ always lets us know that the workout is a “piece of cake!”, and we hope he has SEVERAL pieces of cake today!

This weeks featured WOD of the Week is going down TODAY! “Long Way Home” is a 22 minute partner WOD that’ll start easily enough, but the reps will accumulate quickly! Tag your partner and let us know how YOU’D go about breaking these reps up.

Chin up, it’s almost the holiday weekend! And, chinup, because there are few better upper body movements!

One of the most common wishes for people coming through our doors is to get their first pullup. And with patience, proper programming through progressions, and a supportive community, we’ll get you yours, too!
