After an incredible few years in Wooster, PlaySkills will be closing at the end of October as we prepare to relocate.

This is an extremely difficult goodbye, but I’m incredibly grateful for every child, family, staff member, and community supporter who has been part of PlaySkills. Thank you for trusting us, supporting us, and allowing us to be a small part of so many children’s growth. It’s been a great ride, and I’m proud of what we’ve built here!

My hope is that in time, PlaySkills can reopen in our new community. If PlaySkills has meant something to your family, a review/rating on Google or Facebook would mean a great deal and could help us build again after the move.

Thanks to for always making PlaySkills feel like home! I highly recommend reaching out, if you're ever hosting a party and need easy and fun decorations. Maria can do sooo many different themes and styles!

She's awesome, and we're super grateful to have her help making our space feel so alive and loved! 😊🙏

How do you use play or humor to help your child through a challenging moment? Share what works for you below!

Every time we do something for a child that they could be helping with, we risk sending the message: “I can’t do this for myself.”

Whether the challenge is putting on their shoes, buckling their car seat, or learning a new skill, kids should be involved in the process.

Inviting them into the challenge sends a very different message:

“I want you involved because I know you can do it.”

It may be more difficult. It might take more time. And they might not succeed at first. But the long-term investment of involving children in these simple challenges gives them opportunities to discover what they’re capable of.

At PlaySkills, we practice staying with manageable challenges long enough for “I can’t” to become “I can’t yet”… and then, “I did it!”

Every tiny challenge they work through gives kids more evidence that they’re capable. And over time, that evidence builds self-belief!

PlaySkills Staff Spotlight:

Miss Jocelyn has been with us since the beginning of this year, and has been such a wonderful addition to the PlaySkills team!

One of the things we appreciate most about Jocelyn is how naturally she connects with our kids. She's especially in tune with children who may be a little quieter or more hesitant, and she has a way of helping them feel comfortable, included, and at home at PlaySkills.

Jocelyn is currently attending the University of Akron, where she's pursuing dual licensure in Early Childhood General Education and Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (ECIS) education.

She brings kindness, patience, energy, and a genuine care for our students every time she walks through the door. She has truly been a bright light at PlaySkills, and we're incredibly grateful to have her on our team! 💚
