Survival Food: RICE
There are lots of kinds of rices. Rice is a rich source of carbohydrates, the body's main fuel source. Carbohydrates can keep you energized and satisfied, and are important for fueling exercise. Brown rice, especially, is an excellent source of many nutrients, including fiber, manganese, selenium, magnesium, and B vitamins.
Rice is a cheap staple that keeps for a long time.
1 cup of uncooked rice makes 2 + cups of cooked rice.

1 cup of uncooked rice serves 4.
1- 2lb bag of Great value rice serves 20 - a family of four has 5 meals from that bag that costs $1.46.
1 week - 5 bags- $7.50
1 month - 20 bags - $30.00
5 gallon bucket = 36 lbs of rice=18- 2lb bags=almost 1 month of food for a family of 4!
Why do I care? Since 2020 we have had to consider this possibility. Still today a food shortage is a concern. 1-5gal bucket of rice fits in a corner in your basement and keeps for a long time. That's 1 month of food for a family of four. If things are looking even worse that can be cut back to 1/4 cup per person and now your 5 gal bucket will last 2 months!
