A lot of hockey happens between the plays. Being able to stop, start, turn, and change direction quickly helps players stay in position, create opportunities, and react faster when the game speeds up.

This summer, try focusing on agility and edgework. The better a player can move, the more confident they become with the puck and without it.

You don't always notice these skills on the scoresheet, but they're often what make the biggest difference on the rink!

It's really amazing how quickly kids improve when they stick with it!

They gain a little more confidence, a little more speed, and a little more control of the puck. Nothing happens overnight, but before you know it, those small improvements start adding up.

Stopping goals is just as important as scoring them.

Players can protect the net through smart positioning, awareness, and effort. Defense is about understanding where to be, supporting your teammates, and making it harder for the other team to create chances, not just chasing the puck.

We teach players how to stay between their opponent and the goal, use their stick to disrupt plays, and communicate on the rink. These habits build confidence and help the whole team play stronger together!

When kids learn how to defend the goal correctly, they become more complete and reliable players.

Scoring goals is fun, but learning how to shoot the right way is what makes the difference.

Shooting fundamentals mean proper form, balance, and accuracy. It’s not just about shooting as hard as possible. It’s about placing the puck, following through, and making smart decisions in the moment.

Players are learning how to shoot in stride, pick their spots, and create scoring opportunities instead of rushing the play. When kids understand how to shoot with control and confidence, they become more complete players.

And let’s be honest, nothing beats the feeling of seeing the puck hit the back of the net! 🙌
