When winter weather shuts down trails and daylight disappears, runners often face an unenviable choice: brave treacherous conditions or lose fitness until spring. As a long-time leader in the Nordic skiing community, Blaine County Recreation District (BCRD) has acquired North America’s first fully electric Nordic snow cat, a PistenBully 100e.

On average, cross-country skiers consume 8.7 kilos of CO2 equivalent per day. The author specifies that this is " five times less than a day of downhill skiing ," the footprint of which is estimated at 43.2 kilos of CO2 equivalent according to a study by Utopies.
