Woodstock Academy Monday 9/14 AM athletic announcements

The Centaurs boys soccer team plays its first home match of the season today as it hosts East Lyme at 4 p.m. at the Bentley Athletic Complex.

The girls volleyball team also has a home match tonight as it takes on the Fitch Falcons at 5:30 p.m. at the Alumni Fieldhouse.

Woodstock Academy Sunday 9/13 AM athletic announcements

Lilah Ledogar scored off a free kick for the girls soccer team yesterday on the road in Suffield but the Wildcats were able to overcome that and post a 5-1 victory over the Centaurs.

The prep soccer teams play their first matches of the season today at the Day Hill Dome in Windsor. The Prep 1 team takes on Northwood School at 1:15 p.m. while the Prep 2 Centaurs also play Northwood School at 3:15 p.m.

Woodstock Academy Saturday 9/12 AM athletic announcements

The football season got off to a nice start yesterday at the Bentley Athletic Complex as the Centaurs downed East Lyme, 35-13. It was the first time since the first game of the 2024 season that the Centaurs won on their home field. They opened a 21-point lead in the first half when quarterback Elijah Poh (15-for-23 passing, 252 yards) threw a pair of touchdown passes to Caydem Herlihy (eight catches, 103 yards) and another to Trevor Turner. The Vikings did rally to close within one score in the second half but Kai Brailsford took a lateral down the sideline for a 38-yard touchdown run and Keegan Brown put the clincher on the day with a four-yard touchdown run to open the fourth quarter.

The boys soccer team broke out to a two-goal lead against Norwich Free Academy early but the Wildcats rallied on their home field and posted the 3-2 victory over the Centaurs. Matt Johndrow scored the first goal for the Centaurs on a free kick from 20 yards out and then assisted on a tally by Pedro Da Silva.

The girls soccer team is the only one with a match today as it travels to Suffield for an 11 a.m. non-league duel.

Woodstock Academy Friday 9/11 AM athletic announcements

The girls volleyball team fought back to tie its match with Ledyard last night at one apiece with a 30-28 victory in the second set but host Ledyard rallied to win the next two and posted the 3-1 victory. Kennedy McCooey had 13 kills and 17 digs for the Centaurs (0-2) while setter Phoebe Houston had 36 assists and Maggie Beams added 10 service points including three aces.

The football team takes to the field right after school today as the Centaurs host East Lyme at 4 p.m. at the Bentley Athletic Complex in the season opener for both. The boys soccer team also has a match tonight as the Centaurs go back under the lights for a 6 p.m. encounter with Norwich Free Academy in Norwich.

Woodstock Academy Thursday 9/10 AM athletic announcements

It was a great way to begin a high school soccer career. Freshman Avery Dumas had a ball deflected out to her in the waning seconds of the girls soccer match against Bacon Academy at the Bentley Athletic Complex yesterday. Dumas sent in a shot from 40 yards out that was caught by the Bacon Academy goalie but she stepped back over the goal line as she did so and officials ruled the shot was a goal as time expired to give the Centaurs a 1-1 tie with the Bobcats in the season opener for both. Vanessa Tetreault made five saves in goal for the Centaurs.

The girls volleyball team is in action tonight as it goes on the road to Ledyard for a 5:30 p.m. contest.

The Woodstock Academy Wednesday 9/9 AM athletic announcements

The fall sports season got underway last night with the girls volleyball team falling in three close sets to Bristol Eastern in a non-conference match, 3-0. Bristol Eastern prevailed 25-21, 25-23 and 25-22 to win the season opener for both teams at the Alumni Fieldhouse. Phoebe Houston had 17 assists and 12 digs for the Centaurs while Avery Grant added six kills and 14 service points and Maggie Beams contributed 13 digs.

The boys soccer team gave up three goals in each half and fell in its season opener to Waterford on the road, under the lights, 6-0.

The girls soccer team gets its season underway this afternoon as it takes on Bacon Academy at 4 p.m. at the Bentley Athletic Complex.
