“Just wait until you get to my age. Your metabolism slows down.”
We’ve all heard it before.
Usually from someone in their 30s, 40s, or 50s who has a family, a demanding job, a million responsibilities, and somewhere along the way, fitness got pushed to the bottom of the list.
I know because I’ve been there too.
But here’s the truth: your metabolism doesn’t suddenly fall off a cliff when you hit 30, 40, or 50. Research shows that metabolism stays relatively stable from around 20 to 60 years old, with a meaningful decline happening later in life.

So what actually changes?
Your habits.
You move less.
You sit more.
You stop training consistently.
Your sleep suffers.
Your stress goes up.
And, most importantly, you start eating more than your body needs.
Life gets busy. I get it. We all have responsibilities, stress, work, family, and things that demand our attention.
But at some point, you have to decide that your health is no longer something you’re willing to put on the back burner.
You don’t need a perfect life to get in shape.
You need to make your health a priority in the life you already have.
Because you can have problems with your job, your finances, your relationships, or anything else…
But when your health becomes the problem, it can make everything else harder.
Stop blaming your age.
Start taking control of the things you actually can change.
