In 2008 Al Mirel, Chris Radkowski, and Ben Bamer – windsurfing and kitesurfing friends started F4 as a windsurfing fin company. Together they brought decades of experience with the sport, racing pedigree, engineering knowledge, Phd level math skills and endless enthusiasm and passion for the water sports. As the sports evolved and hydrofoiling came to the scene in 2013 we were the pioneers that turned it from a dream into the fastest growing market and the phenomenon that brought life back into windsurfing and extended into many other water sports.

Cynthia’s take on the Hammerhead 510 and Piranha 600.

Daily decisions are tough, but they must be made. Specially when it comes to foils and p**n. Two foils with very different styles, but both crazy fun for downwind foiling.

The Hammerhead 510 has surprisingly excellent low end paired with unstoppable speed, glide and pump. The shocking part is that it is really fun to carve GS surf turns on, even with such a high AR. It’s the foil Edo Tanis used to win the entire Triple Crown of Hawaiian downwind races, back in July. He was on a tiny downwind race stabilizer, but I tame it down with a 138 surf stabilizer.

The Pirahna 600 is a sassy little skateboard with enough zippy speed for Maliko. It turns the 9 mile run into a 12 mile skate park! Still plenty of low end, glide, pump and speed, but with a rail to rail, I gotta rip surf personality!

Don’t take my word for it, check out clips from Hood River.

Which one would you choose as your dance partner?
