At 44, I have learned there is a big difference between training hard and training reckless.
I still love a tough round. I love learning, solving problems, getting sharper, and pushing myself.
But I do not need every round to prove something.
I want to leave the academy stronger than when I walked in. I want to be healthy enough to train tomorrow, next year, and decades from now. I want to keep growing into a better version of myself—not try to become a younger version of myself.
That is the kind of Jiu-Jitsu I believe in.
Train with purpose. Take care of your body. Take care of your partners. Keep showing up.
The best years on the mat do not have to be behind you.
