Game Recap & Highlights from yesterday!
What a battle last night...The Vikings came from behind to defeat Pennfield 3-2 in overtime!
The Panthers scored twice early off a free kick and a long throw-in to take a 2-0 lead, but our girls never backed down. In the 16th minute, Mariana Grant started the comeback with a swing pass to Mayleigh Raffler, who ripped a 20-yard shot off the near post and into the net. A few minutes later, Ana intercepted a throw-in, cut inside, and bent a beautiful shot from 25 yards out into the far side of the goal to tie the game at 2-2.
The second half was scoreless as both teams had chances, but Emma Tidd came up with several big saves to keep the game tied and send us to overtime.
The winning goal came in the first overtime period. Raelin Schrock made a great overlapping run around Heidi Carter, received a perfectly placed ball around the defender, and sent a cross to the back post where Mayleigh Raffler finished it for the game winner.
Lakewood controlled much of the game, holding 56% possession, outshooting Pennfield 23-12, and completing 80% of our passes.
