Besides toughening up the feet, rock runs train the legs to adapt to any angle. Mastery of this technique makes it much less likely to injure oneself on easier terrain.

Day 142: it’s good to be back. I’ve learned a lot while I was taking a break from this training. Shutting down the sword business was really scary, but I couldn’t run it any longer. I released a YouTube video on how to make your own Dragonslayer for those who still want one, and if you can’t make it yourself you can look for a local woodworker to commission it for you. My focus moving forwards will be to teach people my methods of training, and I can’t do that if I’m making swords all day. Thank you all for supporting my journey for over three years now.

Now that I’m in the stone phase of training, exercise selection has changed. My time in the gym is mostly replaced with time in nature. Stonelifting, rock climbing, and handstands have become the center of my strength and conditioning.
Outside of my training sessions, I’m working on an online program teaching all the training methods I’ve learned over the years. It’ll be available soon.

The art of Stonelifting is something I began learning 4 years ago. While it’s uncommon these days, it predates conventional weightlifting by thousands of years.
Every stone is different, so each lift must be approached strategically. It has as many similarities to rock climbing as it does lifting. It builds raw strength, but also teaches you how to orient your body and place your hands when lifting awkward objects.

Learned a lot from this. Pacing and technique plays a bigger part than I prepared for. Now that I’ve ran it I think I could shave a minute off if I tried again. Next time I’ll be faster. Huge thanks to and for hosting this event!

After a year of slowly pushing my hands into rice and beans, my fingertips reached the hardness of wood. To achieve the next level of Stone, striking into sand begins. No matter how sharp, the tip of a spear isn’t useful if the staff is weak. So I’ll keep training calisthenics and stone lifting to develop strength and flexibility in the entire body.
