✨ A trip down memory lane ✨

This weekend my mom gave me a bin of old newspaper clippings, and I found this moment — my article sitting right next to the Wimbledon results.

At the time, I was just a teenager chasing an Olympic dream. Looking back now, I’m incredibly proud of the discipline, sacrifice, and belief it took to get there.

What means even more is how that journey shaped the person — and instructor — I am today. Proof that big dreams are built one day at a time, and the lessons last far beyond competition.

Grateful for the journey. Grateful for the support. And proud of what that young girl accomplished. 💫

Yesterday’s black belt test gave us one of the most inspiring moments we’ve ever witnessed at Elevate Martial Arts.

This is what courage looks like.
This is what perseverance looks like.
This is what not giving up looks like.

Watching one of our adult black belts step up, commit, and break through that board wasn’t just about technique — it was about decades of resilience, self-belief, and the reminder that it is never too late to set a goal and finish it.

And look at our students in the background… eyes wide, hearts inspired.
They’re learning that strength comes in many forms, and that leaders lead not by words, but by example.

Yesterday’s Black Belt Test hit different. 🥋🖤

We watched students push past doubt, fatigue, and fear — and keep going even when quitting might have felt easier. They showed heart, grit, and the power of never giving up.

But the real heroes? The families who stood behind them.
Parents who encouraged, supported, drove to practice, wiped tears, celebrated wins, and reminded their kids of the goal they set.

Black belts aren’t just earned by students…

💥 THROWBACK TO 1999 💥

I don’t post about my career that often, but this moment was special — the U.S. Pan Am Games Team Trials. Only the top 4 fighters in the country battled to represent the United States. I was 17, homeschooled so I could train 8–10 hours a day, chasing my Olympic dream.

When things got tough, my mom always said:
👉 “As long as you try your best, that’s all I can ask for.”
👉 “Are you there to make friends, or to grow stronger?”
👉 “Ice up and get your rest.”

She was tough and loving — and she taught me that grit, gratitude, and consistency are what build champions.

At Elevate Martial Arts, that same spirit lives on. We teach our students that success isn’t about winning every round — it’s about showing up, working hard, and never giving up. 🥋
