I had the pleasure of teaching a friend and longtime student of Modern Ballroom this weekend. Ms. Toni and her fiancée Steve are getting ready for their upcoming wedding and I couldn’t be happier for them. She just glows! It was good to see MBDS family, soul food for my heart!

Congratulations Toni and Steve. You two have something special.

I’ve been teaching Marco and Josie, separately, as they have been home on winter break from college.

Josie is a former ballerina but new to ballroom dancing and has a very quick learning curve. Marco fell in love with dancing through his college dance club and has also competed a few times. He is very inquisitive and I love it.

I had the idea to bring them together for a lesson, and it went really well. East Coast Swing! Not bad for only having this be their 2nd lesson in it. I hope we get to do this again!

It’s really nice to be back to teaching. Every time I try to run away from teaching, I come back with a grateful heart. It lifts me up as much as it does my students.

Happy New Year!!

What are your New Year resolutions? If you want to dance, I’m your girl! I make it very easy to learn this amazing skill. No dance experience PREFERRED, but I’m happy to be teaching returning students as well:))

Although I closed my previous location, I teach out of this tranquil room in my house (as soon as you walk in). It’s where I taught before opening the official location in 2017. My students really enjoy it.

I LOVE TEACHING WEDDING COUPLES! Congratulations to Jeeha and Chad…their biggest day is this Friday! I have a few tips for all Wedding Couples wanting their first dance to be special:

1. Don’t wait to the last minute!!! The sooner you start, the more options you have. It’s a better experience for both of you!

2. Plan on attending your classes 2-3 times a week. It’s important that your man or leader has muscle memory with the routine. On the day of your wedding, it will be crazy. You want to make sure he/she has your routine down.

3. I usually ask all brides for a photo of their wedding dress and floor plan as it plays a big part in what I teach.

4. Be patient with each other!!! It should be a fun experience.
