GLP-1’s have revolutionized weight loss by reducing hunger, cravings and food noise and improving blood sugar control, to name a few. This can lead to significant weight loss, some of which is fat loss, but also loss of muscle and potentially bone.
Strength training and protein consumption must be paired with this powerful tool to ensure long term success.

MEET OUR COACHES!!

Introducing Coach Ginger! Runner, marine biologist, and mom of two with another one on the way in a matter of weeks (and still working out!):

Ginger was born in Nebraska on a small family farm, but always dream of studying the ocean. As an avid runner, she attended college on scholarship in Missouri, but spent a summer taking classes on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and fell in love with the area and the kindness of the people. She graduated in 2012 with a double major in Marine Biology and Biological Psychology, and decided to pursue graduate school at the University of Georgia. After one year in the graduate program, her heart called her back to Mississippi so she transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi to study oyster reef restoration and graduated with her Ph.D. in Coastal Sciences in 2017.

In 2014, while in graduate school, her best friend introduced her to CrossFit as something new to try. After being plagued with multiple fractures from running so many miles a week as a collegiate athlete she was anxious to try something new but scared about stepping out of her comfort zone. It was a very humbling experience and she almost quit because she was so used to being a natural at running, but she is so glad she stuck it out. CrossFit completely transformed the way she viewed herself and her capabilities. Instead of just being the injury-prone runner, she was able to challenge herself to be the girl who was “sneaky strong.” Going from being unable to bench press the training bar to an athlete that competed in CrossFit competitions built up her confidence.

Now as a coach she is able to identify with the challenges of starting CrossFit for the first time, and she loves watching athletes make progress and seeing their confidence in their abilities grow over time.

Ginger is married to a retired Air Force cyber officer, Erik, and they have two amazing children, Charlie who is 6 and Gwen who is 3 years old. She works as an online professor for the University of Hawaii-West Oahu teaching marine biology, environmental biology, and human anatomy and physiology courses.

In her spare time she is also the chief scientist for the Callie Mae Sea Foundation, a non-profit she and her husband started while living in Hawaii. The foundation now has branches in Hawaii, Mississippi, and Virginia, and focuses on living shorelines and rebuilding oyster reefs.

We believe in you! No matter your age, we know you can do hard things!!!

(I mean, I’m sure we’ll all be sore in entirely new places after our forward rolls, but that’s okay!!)

You may look at these athletes and think to yourself: “I could never do that!” And my answer would be “maybe not today, but stick with us and anything is possible!”

CrossFit is more than a fitness program. It’s a CONFIDENCE program. It’s a LET ME FIND OUT WHAT I AM REALLY CAPABLE OF IF I PUT IN THE WORK program. And that’s true whether you’re 25 or 55.

Let us help you rediscover what’s possible. DM to start the conversation!

Just a small snapshot of the progress that can be made with 4-5 hours a week of CrossFit workouts and some small changes in the kitchen.

How does it happen?

CrossFit workouts burn calories and build muscle (which in turn burns more calories!). And research shows that starting an exercise program leads to better nutritional choices. This may be due to exercisers' desire to make further changes to improve their health, but it may also be physiological - your body craves more nutrient dense foods like fruits and veggies, and less sugary snacks, after intense workouts like CrossFit. So combining exercise with better nutrition and the right amount of calories will equal reaching your goal body weight.

It all starts with a phone call - comment below or send a DM - we’ll reach out and get you started on the program that actually works. No quick fixes, no weird supplements or diets. Just exercises tailored to your fitness level, and nutrition help that you can use to nourish your whole family.

MEET OUR COACHES!!

Coach Jarivette is our favorite head-banging Weightlifting Coach! She is originally from Puerto Rico and moved to the U.S. in 2006, settling in Woodbridge in 2017.

She’s a seasoned civil engineer with nearly 20 years of experience serving federal, military (U.S. and Middle East), state, county, and city clients. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Master’s in Civil Engineering with a focus in Transportation, and a Master’s in Engineering Management. Jarivette is a licensed Professional Engineer in seven states and was honored with the “Outstanding Service to the Engineering Profession Award” by the Florida Engineering Society, Myakka Chapter in 2012. Currently, she serves as a Department Manager at an international firm and is passionate about encouraging her team to embrace fitness and nutrition as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Her athletic roots trace back to her school days in Puerto Rico, where she played volleyball and competed in jump rope (191 jumps in a minute!). Despite her active youth, she struggled with weight for years. As an adult, she discovered CrossFit and Olympic Weightlifting - two of the many tools that helped her lose over 115 pounds and transform her lifestyle. These disciplines have not only improved her physical health but also boosted her confidence and personal growth in ways she never expected.

Jarivette lives with her long-term boyfriend and their beloved dog, Violet. Outside the gym, she enjoys puzzles, paint-by-numbers, music, rock concerts, and binge-worthy TV shows. Known for her sense of humor and love of good vibes, she’s always up for a laugh and a high-five. Be sure to say hi when you see her at the gym!

MEET OUR COACHES!

Next up is Coach Kristen!!

Kristen is originally from Atlanta, GA, and moved to Baton Rouge, LA at 18 to attend LSU, where she earned a BA in Sociology, a BS in Psychology, and a Minor in Spanish. She met her husband at LSU, and they got married shortly after she graduated. He introduced her to CrossFit at a gym in Zachary, LA, where she was immediately challenged. It was the first sport and physical activity she had ever committed to in her life, and she cried the first three times she went to the gym. However, the excellent coaching there helped Kristen push past her self-doubt and helped her realize she was capable of much more than she had imagined.

Having fallen in love with the sport, she became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in 2022 and coached for two years in Zachary before moving to Virginia in April 2025.

Outside of CrossFit, Kristen is a classically trained pianist, lover of live-music, a mom to a toddler and two dogs, and an enthusiast for nature and the outdoors. She loves the beautiful VA weather and being out of the swamp!

In addition to coaching, she works in the Education Technology Industry in Operations and Fulfillment.

Introducing the newest member of our coaching staff - Marcus!

Marcus grew up between California and Brazil before moving to Indiana in the 7th grade, where his life would take an important turn—meeting his future wife, Lindsey, in youth group that same year. Marcus earned his Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and later completed his Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University. In 2020, Marcus relocated to Virginia with Lindsey and their four kids.

In addition to CrossFit, Marcus enjoys reading, live music, traveling, and hiking.

His favorite WOD is Annie, and fun fact - Marcus is color blind! If he's wearing non-matching outfits, it’s usually because his wife Lindsey is out of town!
